The person in our lives whose kindness, strength, caring and loving personality inspired her children and grandchildren passed peacefully on June 24, 2017 at the age of 92.
Eileen was born November 9, 1924 in Randle, Washington. She graduated from Randle High School in 1943 and was a very proud graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Eileen married Maurice R. Smith in 1956 and together they raised five children while enjoying trips to the ocean and endless time spent at “The Lake”. Eileen was a devoted, supportive mother. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish, active in Mother’s Club and Altar Society.
Eileen will be missed by her children, Tom J. Smith, MaryAnn (Kirk) Peterson, John (Zeta) Smith, Tim (Judy) Smith; Connie (Dennis) Gits, along with her seven grandchildren, Allyne, Kelsey, Sean, Abigail, Katie, Lettie, Libby and great granddaughter Sophia.
The family would like to thank all the caring staff at King’s Manor Assisted Living Community as well as Franciscan Hospice. Services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Tacoma. Rosary at 10:30am followed by Memorial Mass. Reception to follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Franciscan Hospice.
