Life Story for Jeanne F. Coulter

Jean Emily Friedermann was born on May 26th, 1926 in Chicago, IL. She grew up in Chicago and eventually married John Coulter, who was a childhood friend of her oldest brother. They had four children together: John, Richard, Theodore and Chris. Jeanne and John also enjoyed time spent with grandsons: James, Lindon and Brandon.

Although Mom struggled with some mental health issues, she worked very hard to make life special for her children. She loved celebrations of any kind; at Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, game nights, and football games, mom was by far the loudest celebrant on any occasion. She was extremely creative and frequently made up songs and stories. She also wrote two short stories which were published in Good Housekeeping magazine. Mom felt education was important and, at age 72, enrolled at Tacoma Community College to complete an Associate’s Degree. She fell one class short, but was extremely proud of her accomplishments, as were all of us.

Jeanne loved to read all types of books and, as children, introduced us to the worlds of Dr. Seuss, the Wizard of O, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and many others. She was a staunch Democrat, and wanted to make certain that everyone around her knew it.

Mom loved the wilderness, having grown up with parents who owned a trailer, and travelled all over the country. She was fond of visiting various State and National Parks and, once she and John moved to WA, she frequently wanted to visit Mt. Rainier, which was her favorite.

We are very happy for Mom, as we know she is in Heaven with our Dad and other family members! As much as she loved parties, we are certain there is a big celebration going on there now!! Any tears that I have are for me, because I have to learn how to live my life without her in it. In my heart, I have a tremendous amount of joy for Mom! Love, Chris
