It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred D. Morley, our manager and former owner, on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016. He was a fixture in the Tacoma business community for nearly 50 years and will be sorely missed. |

Frederick D. Morley, a fixture in the Tacoma Business Community for nearly 50 years, passed away Dec 22 at the age of 78. Fred was born in Clallam Bay, WA and came to Tacoma in 1959. He attended St. Martins College in Lacey and San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. In 1967 he purchased CC Mellinger Funeral Home, which became Morley-Mellinger. He later purchased Piper Funeral Home and Oakwood Hill Funeral Home-Cemetery.
Fred and Rina worked tirelessly to build their businesses by serving thousands of families with sincere caring and compassion. Fred was actively involved in several local organizations, including Sons of Italy 1175, Tacoma Elks 174, Sertoma International, Tacoma Athletic Commission, Fircrest Golf Club and WA State Funeral Directors Assoc. He attended St. Rita's Catholic Church Parish. Fred married Rina on April 20, 1977 and together they formed an Amazing partnership that flourished for over 37 years until Rina passed in 2014.
Fred is survived by his daughter Lisa (Tony), His sons Greg (Rebecca), Fred (Lynda), Alex (Cotton), brother James Morley (Bonnie), Grandchildren, Jennifer Alyssa, Tyler, Anthony and Kellen.
Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thu Dec. 29 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Rosary recited prior to Mass at 10:30. A reception will follow in the church hall. Private entombment in Calvary Cloisters.
